As I have started biking more and playing soccer
again (I took a year off soccer because I got fouled in a game and
broke my foot) I have realized how much I love running. When you
run all you need is a pair of shoes, unless you are a barefoot
runner then you don't need anything. It is simple and easy.
When I run I can just put on my shoes and head out the
door. It is the cheapest, simplest and quickest way to get a
great workout. There are less variables. Less things to go
wrong. It is just my mind and my body that I have to deal
with.
This morning as I was riding my bike to meet my running friends
my bike got a flat tire half way there. I had to run with my
bike the rest of the way. And as I was running I thought,
"bikes are stupid, this never happens when I'm just running."
When I go running I feel in control. No one is going to
tackle me from behind to get the ball and no tire is going to pop
forcing me to stop. Running is just me and the road.
